RW Supply + Design’s mission is that we exist UNTIL EVERY CHILD IS HOME. Initially, RW started with child sponsorship. Next came financial partnerships with organizations in Asia providing care for kids with medical needs. We then began offering adoption grants. To date, RW has given grants to families adopting kids from Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and South America.
It is exciting to think about all the ways we have learned from AMAZING organizations, working globally to help at risk children…so many inspirational stories of people who saw a need and devoted their lives to meeting that need. We are always learning from people who are working to solve complex problems! As we move into 2025, here are a few things we have come to believe…
Money should never be a barrier to biological families staying intact….sadly, poverty is the number one cause of kids being orphaned.
Family preservation is best for kids, parents, and society.
Kids need attachment to survive and flourish…biological parents are usually best, but ONE adult can make all the difference.
Education is one of the best tools for breaking generational poverty.
Access to education and societal well being are connected.
Many kids in orphanages never reach their full potential, because they don’t have attachment to a consistent caregiver.
Foster care and homes for abandoned kids show better outcomes when they mimic a family.
International and domestic adoption has a history of both corruption and redemption.
Adoption doesn’t fix everything and kids still experience loss, but it can offer a second option for kids to grow up with a family.
Finally, every child and every situation is different…there is no simple solution, but every kid deserves a HOME!
As we have learned these (and other lessons), our four areas of focus have emerged: Family Preservation, Homes/Facilities for At Risk Kids, Educational Opportunities, and Adoption Grants for Waiting Kids. We look forward to living into these four areas in 2025 and seeing what else we can learn. The ability to work until every child is home, is solely because of the work that you do each day!
