Duc…

RW Supply + Design’s mission is that we exist UNTIL EVERY CHILD IS HOME. The following story, about a child living at Promise House (part or Orphan Voice in Vietnam), demonstrates the value of facilities that support children who might not be able to grow up with their biological families.

As the director of Orphan Voice, Tony, watched the Promise House Has Talent skits, he noticed a man sitting and watching. Curious, Tony asked who the man was. It was Duc’s dad – a new Promise House child. Duc lost his mom early in life. His dad never remarried and raised Duc in one room – the kind with one water spigot, no kitchen, and a “hole in the floor” toilet. With his dad, Duc was often hungry and did poorly in school. Tony was initially frustrated. If Duc had a dad, why was he referred to Promise House? He found out why. Duc’s dad would soon be dead and he knew it.

Sadly, as expected, the dad passed away. Caregivers gave Duc special and prolonged attention through his grief. “More than enough” food became normal; he gained weight. He repeated his last grade (for the third time), but this time, with help, HE PASSED. In fact, Duc learned to love school and became a high achiever!

The ability to support homes for children like Duc (that provide consistency and care) and work until the day that every child is home, is solely because of the work that you do each day!
