Last December, we provided an update on Real Wood Floors’ 10 x 10 x 10 strategic initiative that served as an integral part of our company’s mission: working towards the day when every child is home.

Our completed initiative embodied a three-part strategy of providing facilities, adoption services, and education to children in the US, Africa, and Asia.

We draw our inspiration to serve the needs of children from many sources, including the likes of May Sarton. Poet and memoirist May Sarton, whose family fled Belgium in fear of German occupation in the 1910s, understood the restorative nature of giving and community. In Journal of a Solitude, Sarton recounts sending money to a Catholic nun in charge of a co-op in South Carolina and writes, “I felt lifted up on the joy of sending a check and knowing that money would be changed at once into help.” We resonate with this sense of giving, and in 2021 we continued to send checks to organizations serving orphaned children.

The impact of 10 x 10 x 10 in 2020.

After a successful year in 2020, and as we near the close of another year, we felt it time to think about the successes of our strategic 10 x 10 x 10 initiative and also thank our supporters once again who have helped us accomplish our mission and goals.

Through our strategic 10 x 10 x 10 initiative, Real Wood Floors helped provide:

• 10 facilities for orphaned children in Asia and Africa
• 100 adoptions
• 1000 student education grants
  

Supporting efforts of on-the-ground organizations in 2021.

Moving forward in 2021, Real Wood Floors has continued to and increased support for groups dedicated to helping orphaned children.

“One thing we’ve found to be successful in 2021 is contributing financially to organizations doing effective, on-the-ground work in the areas of adoption and education,” said Rachel Cobb, co-owner of Real Wood Floors. “We have been very happy to partner with groups like Asia’s Hope, Love Without Boundaries, and Show Hope.”

In 2021, Real Wood Floors has continued to partner financially with Asia’s Hope. We contribute to their school in India and also sponsor a home in Cambodia (pictured above). Asia’s Hope is dedicated to creating exceptional, family-style homes for orphaned and vulnerable children.

We also continue to partner with Love Without Boundaries, an organization that does amazing work for children in Asia and Africa in the much-needed areas of medical services, food, foster homes, and schools. We admire them for many things and especially for their diligence in providing for families at the point before a child is abandoned. Another neat part of their program is that they send their scholarship students to university— and during their college tenure, some of these students come back home and teach students at the primary level and earn money while doing so.

Another organization we partner with is Show Hope. Show Hope has a wonderful mission shared on their website: to care for orphans by engaging the Church and reducing barriers to adoption. Show Hope offers a variety of grants that include adoption aid, medical care for the adopted child, and both pre and post adoption support. Their care centers in China have helped thousands of children who suffer from acute or special medical needs.
