RW Supply + Design’s mission is UNTIL EVERY CHILD IS HOME. Adoption is one of our four focus areas and is foundational to our mission. We have been involved in over 125 adoptions and support adoption aid organizations, like Show Hope and Lifesong International. The adoption grants we have awarded have been to families adopting newborns up to older teens. Additionally, many RW employees have adopted or fostered children. We love to see children in families and will always be excited about adoption.

However, we award fewer adoption grants than in the past. International adoptions have steeply declined. Some of this is a result of positive changes…as countries experience economic development less children are placed for adoption. Additionally, for many years, China was the largest ‘partner’ of international adoptions. Now orphaned children from China aren’t eligible for international adoption.

Adoption costs have increased considerably. Presently, most ‘waiting children’ in the US are in foster care. As a result, sometimes we can make a more widespread impact in the lives of children through our other areas of focus: family preservation, education grants, & family-style homes for kids at risk. Adoption is not the only way for orphaned children to gain a family. Instead, many other resources are available.

Nevertheless, we remain committed to partnering with families adopting waiting children (children considered hard to place) by providing adoption grants. We are just more focused on our approach. The ability to remain flexible to learning and continue giving to adoptive families is solely because of the work each of you does daily.
