RW Supply + Design’s mission is that we exist UNTIL EVERY CHILD IS HOME. I am the aunt of a spunky first grader, who happens to have Down syndrome. She has altered my views of people living with Down syndrome. When we decided to adopt, I was given a form to ‘check’ which medical (other other) conditions, I would consider. I left Down syndrome off the list. I was under the impression that raising a child with Down syndrome would be nearly impossible.

The belief I had, is the belief that many people around the world share…and that can cause children with Down syndrome to be placed in orphanages. In orphanages, kids with Down syndrome regularly experience neglect. In many places, they are transferred to under staffed adult institutions. Lack of nurture causes poor development. Poor development causes even more neglect. Consequently, they are often overlooked by adoptive families.

While adoption is not our only mission focus, it is a part of that focus. We hope to see all biological families raise their children with Down syndrome. But it has also been so EXCITING to see kids flourish in their adoptive homes when this is not an option.

The ability to work to make sure that every child is HOME, through adoption grants for waiting children, is because of the work that you do each day!
